Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana (MHANI) is the front door to guardianship services. We offer guardianship services for seniors and incapacitated adults who are unable to make sound decisions regarding their medical needs. Staff and volunteers regularly visit their clients and attend appointments with them in order to act as decision makers with the client’s best interests in mind.
Guardianship services can be life-saving for men and women who need legal guardians to make sound medical decisions for them. Guardianship coordinators and volunteer advocates work with their clients and the medical staff tasked with treating them to make decisions that are best for the client.
If you have questions about guardianship, take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions about Adult Guardianship Services. Please feel free to call us at (260) 422-6441 if you would like more information.
If you know someone who needs a legal guardian, you can refer them to our Guardianship Services program. Click on the buttons below to download the referral form and physician’s note. If you are planning to submit a referral, please contact us at (260) 422-6441 to discuss the process before submitting.
MHANI needs guardianship advocates! In general, as a guardianship advocate, you will be a community friend for an at-risk adult. You may assist in making life decisions with the help of the guardianship coordinator. These decisions might involve the medical, social service, and legal needs of your client. All you have to do is care, we will teach you the rest!
If you are interested in becoming a guardianship advocate, please contact Robin Morrow at firstname.lastname@example.org or 260-422-6441 for more information. You can also visit our volunteer page to learn more and fill out an application.
